Who may and may not be able to join

Who may be able to join
- Women aged 18 or older who have been diagnosed with breast cancer that has spread to other parts of the body (metastatic breast cancer)
- People whose breast cancer tests positive for estrogen receptors (ER-positive) and negative for a protein called HER2, based on testing of either the original tumor or a sample from a secondary tumor site
- People who have not yet received any treatment aimed at the whole body (such as chemotherapy or hormone therapy) for their metastatic breast cancer — previous hormone therapy or chemotherapy given before or after early-stage surgery is allowed
- People whose treating doctor considers them suitable to receive a first-line treatment combination of an aromatase inhibitor and a CDK4/6 inhibitor (two types of cancer medicines) as standard care at their treating centre
- People whose cancer can be assessed or measured using standard imaging guidelines (confirm with trial site); a small proportion of places in the trial are set aside for people whose cancer has spread only to the bones
- People who are able to provide a stored tissue sample from a biopsy of a metastatic tumour site taken before joining the study — those with cancer only in the bones may be accepted without this biopsy; a further tissue sample may be requested if the cancer progresses during the study, and a stored sample from the original breast cancer should also be provided if one is available
- People who agree to provide blood samples at specific times set out by the trial
Who may not be able to join
Each point below is a reason the trial team may not be able to accept someone. It is not a list of requirements to meet.
- People whose cancer has spread only to the brain or central nervous system, with no spread to any other part of the body — unless the tumour in the brain or central nervous system has been surgically removed and tissue from it is available for the study
- People who have had, or currently have, a cancer other than breast cancer within the past 5 years — exceptions include certain non-invasive cervical conditions or adequately treated skin cancers of specific types (confirm with trial site)

Trial details
This date has passed while the registry still lists the trial as open to participants. Sponsors often update a trial's status without revising its projected end date, so it may well still be recruiting — but the record is out of date in at least one respect. Check with the study contact before relying on either.
