Who might be able to join this trial:
- People aged 18 or older (there is no upper age limit)
- People who have been diagnosed with hepatocellular carcinoma (a type of liver cancer) confirmed either by tissue sample or by imaging scans, following specific cancer network guidelines
- People whose cancer cannot be treated with surgery or local treatments alone, or whose cancer has come back or grown after surgery and/or local treatments
- People who have at least one tumour that can be clearly measured on a CT or MRI scan taken within the past 6 weeks
- People who are currently being cared for by a licensed cancer specialist (medical oncologist)
- People with a life expectancy of more than 6 months
- People whose treating oncologist considers them suitable for a type of cancer treatment that works with the immune system (called an immune checkpoint inhibitor), based on their treatment history, overall health, and organ function
- People with a Child-Pugh score of 9 or less (a measure of liver function — confirm with trial site if unsure)
- People whose kidneys are filtering at a rate of at least 40 mL/min, as measured by a specific formula
- People whose liver enzyme levels (ALT and AST) are within 7 times the normal upper limit
- People whose total bilirubin level is 4 mg/dL or lower
- People whose albumin (a blood protein) level is 2.8 g/dL or higher
Who may not be able to join:
- People who weigh more than 500 lbs (approximately 227 kg), due to the weight limit of the PET/CT scanner used in this trial
- People who are pregnant or breastfeeding (people of childbearing potential will need to be re-screened within 7 days before the PET/CT scan)
- People with a serious underlying health condition that would make it difficult to tolerate the imaging procedure used in the trial
- People currently receiving a non-targeted cancer treatment (note: taking part in another immune checkpoint inhibitor trial, or receiving a combination of immune checkpoint inhibitor treatments, is permitted)
