AI generated eligibility summary. Written by an AI model from the official source data and checked on a sample basis. It can contain mistakes, so confirm anything important against the original source. How we use AI

Who might be able to join this trial:

  • People aged 50 years or older
  • People who have been diagnosed with chronic heart failure and whose condition has been stable for at least 2 months, with heart medications adjusted to the highest tolerated dose during that time
  • People whose heart failure symptoms range from no limitation of everyday activity, to mild-to-moderate symptoms, to marked limitation of activity (confirm with trial site for exact symptom level)
  • People who are physically and mentally able to take part in cognitive and physical training activities

Who may not be able to join:

  • People who have had a serious heart or blood vessel event in the past month, such as a hospital visit for worsening heart failure, a heart attack, a stroke, or a mini-stroke
  • People who have a planned heart procedure scheduled within the next 6 months, such as a device implant, heart bypass or stenting, or a heart transplant
  • People with severe inability to exercise
  • People for whom exercise testing would be unsafe — for example, due to severe narrowing of certain heart valves or arteries, severe high blood pressure in the lungs, severe blocked heart arteries that cannot be treated, significant lack of blood to the heart or dangerous heart rhythm problems during light exercise, or currently unstable heart failure
  • People with severe lung or breathing disease
  • People whose ability to exercise is limited by something other than the heart or lungs — for example, severe arthritis, poor circulation in the legs, or a disabling neurological condition such as advanced Parkinson's disease
  • People with poorly controlled diabetes or an untreated thyroid condition
  • People with a current or recent cancer diagnosis where life expectancy is less than 1 year
  • People currently receiving kidney dialysis (either haemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis)
  • People who are unable to read the consent form or understand verbal explanations given by the study team
