Who might be able to join this trial:
- You are between 18 and 99 years old
- You have an official diagnosis of asthma recorded by a doctor
- You are receiving treatment for moderate-to-severe asthma at a higher level of care (known as GINA/DAL step 4 or 5), but are NOT currently taking steroid tablets by mouth or biologic injection treatments
- You have been on your current asthma treatment for at least 12 weeks before the first study visit
- For Groups 1 & 2 (asthma with signs of type 2 inflammation, with or without nasal polyps): Your breathing test shows raised inflammation markers (FeNO above 25 ppb), AND your blood or mucus tests show higher-than-normal levels of a certain type of immune cell called eosinophils
- For Group 2 only (asthma with nasal polyps): You have been confirmed to have nasal polyps through a scan or camera examination of your nose
- For Group 3 (nasal polyps without asthma): You have confirmed nasal polyps (via scan or camera), blood test results showing signs of type 2 inflammation, and you do NOT have asthma or a condition called N-ERD
- If you have previously been treated with a biologic (monoclonal antibody) for asthma or nasal polyps, at least 3 months or 5 half-lives of that medication must have passed since your last dose (confirm with trial site)
Who may not be able to join:
- You are currently pregnant
- You have physical nasal anatomy that would prevent a camera from reaching all parts of your nasal cavity
- You are currently taking steroid tablets (such as prednisolone) on an ongoing basis
- You have another serious lung condition such as bronchiectasis, COPD, pulmonary fibrosis, emphysema, cystic fibrosis, a parasitic lung infection, or lung cancer
- You have a condition that causes asthma-like symptoms along with high eosinophil levels, such as EGPA, allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis, or hypereosinophilic syndrome (confirm with trial site)
- You have a mental health condition that would make it difficult to fully understand what taking part in the study involves
- You have another serious health condition that the study team decides could interfere with the trial (confirm with trial site)
- You have had a flare-up of your sinusitis or asthma in the 4 weeks before any study visit
- You have taken a short course of steroid tablets in the 4 weeks before any study visit
- You are currently taking immunosuppressant medication (for example, cyclosporine)
- You currently misuse drugs or alcohol
- You are a current smoker
- You are a former smoker who quit less than 6 months ago, or who smoked heavily for more than 10 pack-years (confirm with trial site)
