Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who are 18 years of age or older
- People whose heart is pumping at more than 35% of its normal capacity (a measure called ejection fraction)
- People who need a heart pacemaker due to a significant electrical conduction problem between the upper and lower chambers of the heart, where the pacemaker is expected to be active more than 90% of the time — this includes complete heart block, certain types of partial heart block, or a significantly delayed electrical signal in the heart
- People who have had a heart ultrasound (echocardiogram) within the last 3 months, with the digital images available in a standard medical format (DICOM)
Who may not be able to join:
- People who need a type of device called an implantable cardioverter defibrillator (a device that delivers a shock to correct dangerous heart rhythms)
- People who have an artificial (mechanical) tricuspid heart valve
- People who have previously had any attempt at implanting certain types of heart devices, including a defibrillator, a cardiac resynchronisation therapy device, or specific types of pacemakers that target the heart's natural conduction system
- People who are not able to give informed consent on their own behalf
- People who have another serious medical illness where life expectancy is expected to be less than 2 years
- People who are pregnant
- People whose heart conduction problem is expected to be temporary or likely to recover on its own over time
- People who have permanent atrial fibrillation (a long-term irregular heart rhythm in the upper chambers of the heart)
