Who might be able to join this trial:

  • You are over 18 years old
  • You have been diagnosed with advanced heart muscle disease (of any severity level) and your heart failure medical team has decided you are a suitable candidate for a left ventricular assist device (LVAD), which is a mechanical pump to help your heart work
  • You already have an implanted heart device (called an ICD — a device that monitors your heart rhythm and can deliver a shock if needed) with remote monitoring, OR you are planned to have one implanted during the same hospital stay as your LVAD surgery (an alternative smaller monitoring device may be used instead if an ICD is not medically suitable for you)
  • You have had a serious abnormal heart rhythm episode (one that lasted longer than 30 seconds) that was either treated or closely monitored by doctors at some point in the last 5 years

Who may not be able to join:

  • You previously had a procedure to treat your abnormal heart rhythms (called an ablation) that was fully successful, and your abnormal rhythms have not come back before your LVAD surgery (however, if your abnormal rhythms returned after the ablation but before the LVAD, you may still qualify)
  • You are currently taking part in another clinical trial (participation in observation-only registries may be allowed with approval)
  • You are unwilling or unable to give your written agreement to take part in the study
