Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have been diagnosed with liver cancer, stones in the liver's bile ducts (hepatolithiasis), or a non-cancerous liver tumour, and whose doctors have determined that surgery to remove part of the liver is the right treatment
- People whose liver is functioning at a level doctors classify as "Child A" or "Child B" (a standard medical rating of liver health — confirm with trial site)
- People whose heart and lung health does not prevent them from having surgery
- People where the portion of liver expected to remain after surgery is less than 50% of the normal liver size for their body
Who may not be able to join:

- People with a condition where the blood's clotting system is not working properly throughout the body (disseminated intravascular coagulation)
- People who have active bleeding
- People with an infection that is not under control
- People with a very low platelet count (the blood cells that help clotting) that cannot be corrected with treatment
- People who do not have a suitable blood vessel available for dialysis treatment
- People who test positive for HIV, hepatitis D (HDV), or hepatitis C (HCV)
- People who have used illicit drugs within the past year
- People with severe failure of the body's overall circulation system
- People with a known serious allergy to treatments that may be used, such as plasma, heparin, or protamine
- People who are pregnant
- People who have a condition called hepatorenal syndrome, where both the liver and kidneys are affected
- People with autoimmune liver disease (where the immune system attacks the liver)
- People with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease or certain inherited liver conditions, including Wilson's disease or alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency
- People whose treating doctor believes they are not well enough to tolerate the treatment for any other reason
