Who might be able to join this trial:

  • People who have a confirmed HIV diagnosis
  • People who are 18 years of age or older
  • People who receive their HIV care at the Johns Hopkins HIV Clinic
  • People who have a history of alcohol use disorder at some point in their lifetime
  • People whose clinical records from the past 3 years show periods of lower-risk drinking (fewer than 11 drinks per week for women, or fewer than 22 drinks per week for men) mixed with periods of heavier drinking (11 or more drinks per week for women, or 22 or more drinks per week for men)
  • People whose most recent health questionnaire shows they are currently not drinking, or are drinking below those lower-risk levels

Who may not be able to join:

  • People who are currently in an acute mental health crisis, such as having thoughts of suicide or harming others, or experiencing psychosis, or are otherwise unable to give informed consent to participate
  • People who do not speak English, as the trial materials and support are currently only available in English
