Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have had a heart attack (either a STEMI or NSTEMI type)
- People who have had a procedure to reopen the blocked heart artery (called PCI) done early after their heart attack
- People whose blood pressure has dropped very low (90 mmHg or below) for more than 30 minutes, or who need medications to keep their blood pressure above that level
- People showing signs that their organs are not getting enough blood, such as confusion, cold and clammy skin, producing very little urine (less than 30ml per hour), or having high lactate levels in their blood (above 2.0 mmol/L)
- People showing signs of fluid build-up in the lungs
Who may not be able to join:
- People who required resuscitation efforts lasting more than 30 minutes
- People whose cardiogenic shock is caused by a physical structural problem with the heart, such as a torn heart muscle or a hole between heart chambers
- People whose shock began more than 12 hours before the point of enrolment
- People who urgently need a type of mechanical heart and lung support device (confirm with trial site)
- Women under 45 years of age
