Who might be able to join this trial:

  • People with stable coronary artery disease (a long-term narrowing of the heart's arteries) who are scheduled for a planned, non-emergency procedure to open those arteries (called PCI)
  • Adults aged 18 or older, of any gender
  • People whose troponin blood test (a marker of heart muscle damage) came back negative before the procedure, or where no troponin test was needed because there were no signs of a heart attack
  • People who are already taking aspirin as part of their regular heart treatment

Who may not be able to join:

  • People who are currently having a heart attack at the time of the procedure
  • People who are currently taking blood-thinning medications called prasugrel or ticagrelor
  • People who have a known allergy or sensitivity to a blood-thinning medication called clopidogrel
  • People who receive certain blood-thinning medications given directly into a vein (such as cangrelor or a GPI) during the procedure
  • People who are not able to give written consent to take part in the trial
