Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who are 70 years of age or older
- People whose heart pumps less efficiently than normal (the heart is pumping out 35% or less of its blood with each beat), confirmed by a heart scan done at the time of joining or within the 6 weeks before joining
- People with moderate heart failure symptoms — meaning they have some shortness of breath or tiredness with everyday activity, but are still able to move around (known as NYHA Class II or III)
- People who have been receiving standard heart failure medicines for at least 3 months (some exceptions may apply, such as not being able to tolerate the full dose or all medicine types — confirm with trial site)
- People who are willing and able to give their agreement to take part in the trial
- People who are covered by the French national health insurance system
Who may not be able to join:
- People who are already taking part in, or planning to join, another clinical trial that involves a heart device or changes to heart failure medicines in a way that conflicts with this trial
- People who have previously had a dangerous irregular heartbeat that needed to be corrected with an electric shock
- People who have had a heart attack within the last 40 days
- People who have had a heart procedure — either through a tube inserted into a blood vessel or through surgery — within the last 90 days
- People who have fainted or blacked out in the past 6 months
- People who have serious blood vessel or stroke-related disease in the brain that affects their daily functioning or independence
- People whose thinking or memory problems mean they are unable to give informed agreement to take part
- People who have a serious non-heart illness (such as cancer, kidney failure, or liver failure) that means they are unlikely to survive more than 1 year
- People who are under a legal guardianship or protection order
- People who are currently held in custody or prison by court or government order
