Who might be able to join this trial:

  • Adult women who have recently been diagnosed with heart failure after being seen at the RVI Heart Failure Diagnostic Clinic
  • People who are able to walk and carry out everyday tasks (such as dressing and cooking) on their own
  • People whose heart failure symptoms fall within a certain range of severity, from mild limitations during activity up to discomfort even at rest (known as New York Heart Association class II–IV; confirm with trial site if unsure which category applies)
  • People who are willing to wear or use a device to track their physical activity
  • People who are willing to take part in an optional interview (participation in the main study is still possible if someone prefers not to do the interview)
  • People who can read, write, and hold a conversation in English without needing an interpreter
  • People who are able to give written agreement to take part in the study

Who may not be able to join:

  • Men
  • People who were already diagnosed with heart failure before this referral
  • People who came to the clinic with severe symptoms needing urgent treatment, such as breathlessness at rest, very low blood pressure, or confusion
  • People with a serious ongoing health condition or another diagnosis that is not short-term or self-resolving, for example certain cancers, severe lung disease, or significant mental health conditions
  • People with a severe physical disability that prevents them from functioning independently
  • People whose condition is currently unstable, including those who have had recent changes to their medications
  • People who are not able to give informed consent to take part
