Who might be able to join this trial:
- Adults aged 18 or older who speak English
- People who have had a spinal cord injury in the neck or mid-back region (between levels C2 and T12) within the last 30 days
- People whose spinal cord injury may be complete or partial (a range of severity levels are included)
- People who were not being treated for sleep apnea before their spinal cord injury occurred
Who may not be able to join:
- People whose spinal cord condition is not caused by a physical injury and may get worse over time, such as those with conditions like multiple sclerosis, neuromyelitis optica, or spinal cord cancer
- People who have another condition affecting the brain or nervous system at the same time as their spinal cord injury
- People who had ongoing (chronic) pain before their injury
- People with other pre-existing conditions affecting the brain or nervous system
- People with a significant mental health condition that has had a recent flare-up or worsening
- People with diseases that affect the muscles and nerves (neuromuscular diseases)
- People who are currently misusing substances such as drugs or alcohol
- People with a known history of excessive sleepiness caused by conditions other than sleep-related breathing problems — for example, an underactive thyroid, severe iron deficiency, depression, kidney failure, chronic fatigue syndrome, or certain other conditions (confirm with trial site)
- People with epilepsy
- People with a Vitamin B12 deficiency
