Who might be able to join this trial:
- You have had a specific type of heart attack (called STEMI) and were treated quickly with a procedure to open the blocked artery (catheterization)
- Your condition has been stable after the procedure
- You are male or female and are 18 years of age or older
Who may not be able to join:
- Your heart and blood pressure were still unstable more than 48 hours after the artery-opening procedure
- You have a previously known heart artery (coronary artery) disease
- You have a known heart structural problem (such as a heart valve condition) (confirm with trial site)
- More than one heart artery is significantly blocked
- You had a different type of heart attack (called NSTEMI) rather than the STEMI type
- You have a condition called sarcoidosis (an inflammatory disease that can affect multiple organs)
- You are currently taking medication that suppresses your immune system
- You have an active inflammatory disease at the time of the trial
- You are unable or unwilling to give your consent to take part
- You have any reason why you cannot have an MRI heart scan (confirm with trial site)
- Your kidneys are not working well enough
- You have an active heart device (such as a pacemaker) or any metal implants in your body that are affected by magnets
- You are pregnant or currently breastfeeding
