Who might be able to join this trial:
- Adults who had a spinal cord injury or disease more than 6 months ago, with any level of injury severity (classified A through D on a standard spinal injury scale), and who show signs of a sleep breathing disorder
- People without a spinal cord injury who have been diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnea (a condition where breathing repeatedly stops and starts during sleep)
Who may not be able to join:
- People who rely on a machine to breathe continuously (note: CPAP or similar sleep breathing devices used as standard treatment do not count as an exclusion)
- People with severe heart failure where the heart is pumping at less than 35% of its normal capacity
- People who have recently had a stroke, heart attack, surgery, or a hospital stay that may be affecting their sleep
- People with a current alcohol or substance use problem, or who have not been sober for at least 90 days
- People who feel they are too unwell to take part in the study procedures
- People whose breathing tests show that carbon dioxide levels in their blood are too high while breathing on their own (confirm with trial site)
- People who are not able to give their own consent to participate in the study
