Who might be able to join this trial:
- You have been diagnosed with a specific type of heart condition called non-ischemic cardiomyopathy (a weakened heart not caused by blocked arteries), confirmed by a special type of heart scan using a dye (contrast-enhanced MRI).
- Your heart MRI shows areas of scarring in the heart muscle (note: patients without scarring may still be able to join a related registry — confirm with trial site).
- Your heart is pumping at 35% or less of its normal capacity, and your heart failure symptoms are mild to moderate (you can still do some daily activities), after at least 3 months of the best available medical treatment.
- You are willing and able to give your consent to take part in the trial.
Who may not be able to join:
- Your heart failure symptoms are very severe (you feel breathless or unwell even at rest) after 3 months of the best available treatment.
- You are currently experiencing a sudden or severe worsening of your heart failure.
- You already have an implanted heart device, such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, or cardiac resynchronisation device.
- Your heart weakness is caused by blocked or narrowed heart arteries (ischemic cardiomyopathy), unless your situation involves a mix of causes (confirm with trial site).
- You have been diagnosed with certain specific heart muscle diseases, including amyloidosis, sarcoidosis, arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy, or hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.
- You have a known fault in the Lamin gene, or a close family member has been found to have this gene fault.
- You have a heart valve problem that is likely to need surgery within the next 3 years.
- You have a complex heart defect that you were born with.
- You already have a medical reason that requires you to have a defibrillator implanted for safety.
- You have had a heart transplant, or you are currently being considered for a heart transplant or a heart assist device.
- You have a heart artery blockage causing chest symptoms that needs to be treated with a procedure to restore blood flow.
- You have a growth or mass inside your heart that needs surgery.
- You currently have an active infection of the heart (endocarditis).
- You currently have a serious blood infection (septicaemia).
- You are pregnant.
- You have another serious illness (such as cancer) that means your life expectancy is less than 2 years.
- You are currently receiving chemotherapy treatment.
- You have severe kidney problems (your kidney filtration rate is below 30 — confirm with trial site).
- You are already taking part in another clinical trial, unless both trial teams have agreed to allow this.
