Who may be able to join
- People who have been diagnosed with mild to moderate Alzheimer's disease using established diagnostic guidelines, and who have had a brain scan (amyloid PET) showing positive results for amyloid protein.
- People who are between 50 and 85 years of age, either male or female.
- People whose cognitive testing scores fall within a specific range — between 16 and 24 on the MMSE test, and between 0.5 and 2 on the CDR scale.
- People who are already taking a stable dose of a cholinesterase inhibitor medication (a common Alzheimer's treatment) and have been on the same dose for at least 8 weeks before entering the study.

Who may not be able to join

- People with a history of alcohol dependence, drug addiction, or other brain or nervous system conditions that can affect memory and thinking, such as traumatic brain injury, epilepsy, brain infections, or a condition called normal pressure hydrocephalus.
- People who have a serious illness affecting other parts of the body that may also affect thinking and memory, such as liver or kidney problems, hormone disorders, or significant vitamin deficiencies.
- People who have a heart conduction problem (such as an unusually slow heart rate) or sleep apnoea.
- People who are currently taking part in another clinical drug trial.
- People who are unable to have an MRI scan of the head for any reason.
- People who the trial doctor considers unsuitable to participate for any other reason.
