Who might be able to join this trial:
- People diagnosed with advanced liver cancer (hepatocellular carcinoma, or HCC) at a specific advanced stage, confirmed either by a tissue sample or through clinical assessment
- People whose liver cancer has come back after surgery or a procedure to destroy the tumor (ablation)
- People who have at least one measurable liver tumor that can be tracked during the trial
- People whose liver is functioning at a level classified as Child-Pugh class A or B (a measure of liver health — confirm with trial site)
- People whose general physical health and ability to carry out daily activities is rated at 0 or 1 on a standard scale (meaning fully active or able to carry out light activity)
- People with a life expectancy of at least 3 months
Who may not be able to join:
- People whose cancer has blocked the main blood vessel entering the liver (portal vein) on both sides, or the main trunk, without any alternative blood flow pathways
- People whose cancer has spread into the large vein that carries blood back to the heart (inferior vena cava)
- People whose cancer has spread to the brain or spinal cord
- People who have already received certain treatments for their liver cancer, including systemic therapy, immunotherapy, chemoembolisation (TACE), radioembolisation (TARE), arterial embolisation (TAE), hepatic arterial infusion chemotherapy (HAIC), or radiation therapy
- People who have had an organ or cell transplant in the past
- People with a history of bleeding from varicose veins in the oesophagus or stomach
- People with a history of hepatic encephalopathy (a condition where liver disease affects brain function)
- People whose blood test results show low white blood cell counts or low platelet counts below specified levels
- People whose blood clotting time is significantly prolonged beyond a certain threshold
- People with severe dysfunction of the heart, lungs, or kidneys
- People who have had a cancer other than liver cancer
- People with active hepatitis B or C infection with virus levels above specified limits (people whose virus levels have dropped below these limits after antiviral treatment may still be considered eligible)
