Who might be able to join this trial:
- The heart's pumping function (left ventricle) is measured at 40% or less of normal capacity.
- The person has been referred for a right heart catheterisation (a procedure to measure blood pressure and flow inside the heart) for one of the following reasons: to be assessed for advanced heart failure treatments such as a heart pump device, heart transplant, or certain medications; or to get a detailed check of how the heart is functioning due to worsening symptoms; or to assess whether a previously implanted heart support device might be able to be removed; or to assess the heart before planned surgery on a heart valve.
- Kidney function is at an adequate level, based on a standard blood test result (eGFR of 30 or above).
- The person is 18 years of age or older.
- Based on the heart catheterisation results, admission to hospital is planned.
Who may not be able to join:
- Kidney function is below the required level based on a standard blood test (eGFR below 30).
- The person has severe blockages in the heart's arteries that have not been treated or cleared.
- The person is currently experiencing an acute heart attack or related emergency heart event.
