Who might be able to join this trial:

  • People who have been diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) based on standard 2010 classification criteria
  • People aged 18 to 84 years
  • People whose RA is currently moderately or highly active, based on a standard disease activity score (called CDAI, scored above 10)
  • People with no more than 2 joints that are visibly swollen (out of 44 joints checked)
  • People who have been on a single stable RA medication (any standard type) for at least 3 months

  • People who have been on a stable dose of anti-inflammatory pain medication (such as ibuprofen), or not taking any, for at least 1 week
  • People who are willing and able to give written consent and follow the study requirements

Who may not be able to join:

  • People who have a joint that the doctor judges to be completely destroyed, as seen on ultrasound
  • People currently experiencing RA-related blood vessel inflammation or other serious disease activity outside the joints (other than rheumatoid nodules) that the doctor considers a significant health risk
  • People whose arthritis first appeared before the age of 18
  • People who have surgery planned during the study period on any joint being examined in the trial
  • People currently experiencing a serious illness that requires a hospital stay
  • People with an active infection, or who have been diagnosed with cancer within the past 5 years
  • People for whom certain RA medications (biological or targeted synthetic DMARDs) are medically unsuitable, based on official prescribing guidelines
  • People who are pregnant or breastfeeding
