Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have given written consent and are willing to take part in all study activities for the full duration of the trial
- People who are 18 years of age or older
- People whose colorectal cancer has been confirmed by laboratory testing of tissue (biopsy)
- People whose primary tumor has already been surgically removed, or for whom surgery to remove the primary tumor and liver metastases is planned within 6 months before joining the study
- People whose cancer has spread only to the liver (with the possible exception of up to 3 very small lung spots smaller than 1 cm), and where a specialist medical team has assessed that the liver tumors can be fully or potentially fully removed by surgery
- People who are considered medically suitable for surgery
- People who are considered medically suitable to receive both chemotherapy and surgery together
- People who are enrolled in a national healthcare system
Who may not be able to join:
- People whose liver metastases have been assessed as impossible to remove surgically
- People who have had more than 9 cycles of pre-surgery chemotherapy for their metastatic disease planned at the time of joining
- People whose rectal tumor (low or middle rectal) has not yet been surgically removed
- People who have had another type of cancer in the past 5 years, unless it was a non-melanoma skin cancer or a very early-stage cervical cancer (carcinoma in situ)
- People for whom more than two surgical procedures are planned to fully remove the primary tumor and/or liver metastases
- People whose tumor has a specific genetic feature (dMMR/MSI) and who are being treated with immunotherapy
- People from whom blood samples cannot be collected at the time of surgery
- People who are pregnant or breastfeeding
- People who cannot attend follow-up appointments due to where they live, their social situation, or their mental health
- People with medical or psychiatric conditions, or work responsibilities, that may make it difficult to follow the study requirements
- People who are under legal guardianship or court protection
