Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have silent ischemia (reduced blood flow to the heart with no symptoms), stable or unstable chest pain (angina), or have had a certain type of heart attack — either a non-ST-segment elevation heart attack more than 48 hours ago, or an ST-segment elevation heart attack more than 7 days ago
- People who have a new blockage in a coronary artery (a blood vessel supplying the heart) that is suitable for treatment with a drug-coated stent (a small tube that holds the artery open and releases medication)
- People whose blocked artery has heavy calcium buildup (hardening of the artery wall)
Who may not be able to join:
- People under 18 years of age
- People with a serious illness where life expectancy is expected to be less than 12 months
- People who are unable to tolerate blood-thinning medications
- People with significantly low red blood cell, platelet, or white blood cell counts (confirm with trial site)
- People who have a history of major bleeding, such as bleeding in the brain or digestive system
- People who have a completely blocked artery that could not be reopened
- People who are planning to have a major surgery within the next 12 months
- People whose heart pumping function is severely reduced (below 25%)
- People with kidney failure who require regular dialysis
- People who have previously had a drug-coated stent placed in the same artery being treated in this trial
