Who might be able to join this trial:

  • People aged 12 to 18 who have not yet finished high school
  • People who have sleep problems, based on a score of 8 or higher on a standard sleep difficulty questionnaire called the Insomnia Severity Index
  • People who have had more than 3 episodes of self-harm in their lifetime, with at least one episode in the 12 weeks before the screening appointment, and who also have a high level of suicidal thoughts based on a standard questionnaire score

  • People who are currently experiencing significant mania or psychosis, life-threatening anorexia, or another serious mental or physical health condition that needs its own specific treatment or would make it hard to take part in the trial
  • People who have previously been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder
  • People who have untreated sleep apnea, or a severe body-clock sleep disorder where they regularly go to bed after 3 AM or wake up after 11 AM
  • People whose sleep problems are mainly caused by substance use or by stopping a medication that affects the mind
  • People with conditions such as bipolar disorder or seizure disorders, which require extra care when using the type of sleep therapy being studied in this trial
  • People who have been ordered by a court to attend treatment
