Who might be able to join this trial:
- People between the ages of 21 and 55 (male or female)
- People who have been diagnosed with Idiopathic Hypersomnia (a condition causing excessive daytime sleepiness without a clear cause) or Hypersomnia linked to a psychiatric disorder, based on standard diagnostic criteria
- People who are able to read and speak English
Who may not be able to join:
- People who are unable or unwilling to give formal consent to participate
- People who have obstructive sleep apnea (a condition where breathing repeatedly stops during sleep) that is not currently being treated, with a severity rating of 15 or more breathing interruptions per hour
- People who meet the diagnostic criteria for narcolepsy (a condition causing sudden and uncontrollable sleep episodes)
- People with a medical condition that is currently unstable, meaning a new diagnosis or a change in medical treatment within the past 2 months (for example, pneumonia, thyroid disease, heart rhythm problems, liver disease, recent surgery, or newly diagnosed cancer)
- People with substance abuse or dependence, delirium, dementia, memory disorders, schizophrenia, or other psychotic disorders
- People currently experiencing strong thoughts of suicide or harming others
- People who have difficulty communicating verbally, reading, or writing; a reading level below 5th grade; or significant vision, hearing, or thinking and memory difficulties (for example, from a previous head injury)
- People currently using prescription medications or over-the-counter products that may affect sleep
