Who might be able to join this trial:

  • People who are over 18 years of age
  • People who are in generally good health and able to carry out daily activities (as assessed by their doctor using standard health scales)
  • People who have a confirmed diagnosis of colorectal cancer based on tissue testing
  • People who have already had a local treatment (such as surgery or ablation) for cancer that spread to the liver (colorectal liver metastases, or CRLM)
  • People whose liver cancer has come back within 12 months of that previous treatment
  • People who have at least one liver tumour that a doctor considers able to be surgically removed or destroyed with ablation, with healthy liver tissue preserved
  • People who have no more than 5 new liver tumours in total
  • People who have never received chemotherapy, or whose cancer previously responded to certain chemotherapy regimens (CAPOX, FOLFOX, or FOLFIRI)
  • People with a life expectancy of at least 12 weeks
  • People whose blood counts, liver function, and kidney function are at adequate levels
  • People who are able and willing to provide written consent to participate

Who may not be able to join:

  • People whose cancer has spread to areas outside the liver
  • People whose tumour has a specific genetic characteristic known as MSI (microsatellite instability) or dMMR (deficient mismatch repair)
  • People for whom liver surgery or ablation is not considered safe or possible — for example, because there would not be enough healthy liver tissue remaining afterwards
  • People with poor liver function, such as signs of high blood pressure in the liver's blood vessels, certain abnormal clotting results (without being on blood thinners), or fluid build-up in the abdomen
  • People with serious active infections
  • People who are pregnant or breastfeeding
  • People who have received immunotherapy or chemotherapy within 6 weeks before joining the trial
  • People with a severe allergy to contrast dye (used in scans) that cannot be managed with pre-treatment medication
  • People with substance use issues, or medical, psychological, or social conditions that could affect their participation or the reliability of the trial results
