Who might be able to join this trial:
- People aged 21 years or older
- People experiencing chest pain or other symptoms that could suggest a possible heart attack
- People whose risk score for a heart attack (called a HEART score) falls between 4 and 6, indicating a moderate level of risk
- People whose heart tracing (ECG) does not show signs of reduced blood flow to the heart
- People whose two blood test results measuring heart muscle protein (troponin) are both below the normal upper limit for their sex (below 15 pg/ml for women, below 20 pg/ml for men)
- People with no previous history of coronary artery disease, including no prior heart attack, no prior procedures to open or bypass blocked heart arteries, and no known blockages of 70% or more in the heart arteries
Who may not be able to join:
- People who are having a major type of heart attack called an ST Elevation Myocardial Infarction (STEMI)
- People whose ECG (heart tracing) shows certain concerning changes, such as significant ST changes or new T-wave inversions of 1mm or more
- People who have any troponin (heart protein) blood test result that is above the normal upper limit for their sex
- People whose two troponin blood test results differ from each other by 5 pg/mL or more
- People who have had certain heart tests — including a stress echocardiogram, nuclear stress test, stress ECG, stress cardiac MRI, CT scan of the heart arteries, or an invasive heart artery procedure — within the past year
- People who have had a heart artery scan or invasive procedure in the past two years that showed completely clear arteries (0% blockage in all vessels)
- People whose chest symptoms are due to a physical injury to the chest
- People who are pregnant
- People whose life expectancy is estimated to be less than one year
- People who have other serious health conditions that require hospital admission
- People with unstable vital signs, including very low blood pressure (below 90), very fast or very slow heart rate (above 120 or below 50 beats per minute), or low blood oxygen levels (below 90%)
- People with severe kidney disease, including those on dialysis or with a kidney function measurement (eGFR) below 30 mL/min
- People being transferred from another hospital
- People who do not speak English
- People who are currently in prison
- People who have previously taken part in this trial
- People who are already enrolled in another interventional clinical trial
