  • Are male
  • Have a rheumatological condition such as lupus, or severe organ problems
  • Have had a fever above 38°C or an infection in the past 2 weeks
  • Have received a vaccination in the past 4 weeks
  • Have had a recent physical injury
  • Have a fear of needles
  • Consume more than 8 units of caffeine per day
  • Smoke more than 5 cigarettes per day
  • Are currently using steroid medications taken by mouth or applied to the skin
  • Are currently using biologic medications that target the immune system (anti-cytokine biologics)
  • Are currently using oral contraceptives (the contraceptive pill)
