Who might be able to join this trial:

  • Your heart's pumping function (measured by a special heart scan called a cardiac MRI) shows that your heart is pumping at less than 55% of its normal capacity
  • You have a leaky mitral valve (a valve in your heart) that is at least moderately severe, confirmed by either a cardiac MRI measurement or an ultrasound scan of your heart with clear enough image quality

Who may not be able to join:

  • You have more than moderate disease of your aortic valve (either leaking or narrowed)
  • You are under 18 years of age
  • You currently have acute inflammation of the heart muscle (a condition called myocarditis)
  • Your kidneys are not working well enough (confirmed by a blood test measuring kidney function below a certain level — confirm with trial site)
  • You have a condition where the heart muscle is abnormally thick (hypertrophic cardiomyopathy)
  • You have a condition where abnormal proteins or inflammatory cells have built up in your heart (cardiac amyloidosis or sarcoidosis)
  • You have previously had any procedure or surgery on your mitral valve
  • You had a heart attack within 8 weeks before your cardiac MRI scan
