Who might be able to join this trial:
- You are willing to sign a consent form and agree to follow all study procedures for the full duration of the trial
- You are between 8 and 25 years old at the time of joining
- You have had symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, feeling full quickly, feeling full after eating, or upper stomach pain for at least 12 weeks
- You have had a specific stomach-emptying scan (using an egg-based meal) within the last 12 months, and either: the scan showed your stomach empties more slowly than normal, OR your stomach empties at a normal speed but you still have the above symptoms or have previously taken part in the Pediatric Gastroparesis Registry study
- Your stomach symptoms are caused by either diabetes or an unknown cause (idiopathic)
Who may not be able to join:
- You are unable to complete the stomach-emptying scan, including if you have an egg allergy
- You are currently pregnant
- You have autism spectrum disorder, significant developmental delays, or psychosis, as these may make it difficult to complete the study questionnaires (confirm with trial site)
- You use narcotic (opioid) painkillers more than three days per week
- You have a condition that causes inflammation or damage to the digestive tract lining, such as inflammatory bowel disease, stomach ulcers, celiac disease, or certain allergic gut conditions
- You have another condition (unrelated to gastroparesis) that could also cause your stomach to empty slowly
- You have a confirmed blockage anywhere in your digestive tract
- You have a brain or nervous system condition that could cause nausea and vomiting, such as raised pressure in the skull or a brain lesion
- You have acute or chronic kidney failure, or you are on dialysis
- You have acute liver failure or advanced liver disease
- You have a significant congenital (present from birth) heart condition (confirm with trial site)
- You have had surgery on your esophagus, stomach, or bowel in the past
- You have a metabolic disease, such as mitochondrial disease or an inherited metabolic disorder
- You have a chronic lung disease, including cystic fibrosis
- You have another serious ongoing medical condition, such as inflammatory bowel disease
- You are taking medications that affect how your digestive system moves food during the stomach-emptying scan
- You have any other condition that the study doctor believes could explain your symptoms or interfere with the study
