Who may and may not be able to join

AI generated eligibility summary. Written by an AI model from the official source data and checked on a sample basis. It can contain mistakes, so confirm anything important against the original source. How we use AI

Who may be able to join

  • People aged 65 or older
  • People whose medication doses have been stable for more than one month
  • People who have gone through menopause
  • People who have a Clinical Dementia Rating (CDR) score of 0, meaning no signs of memory or thinking problems on this particular scale (confirm with trial site)
  • People who have a history of, or currently have, a metabolic condition such as metabolic syndrome, pre-diabetes, or Type 2 Diabetes

Who may not be able to join

Each point below is a reason the trial team may not be able to accept someone. It is not a list of requirements to meet.

  • People who cannot have an MRI scan for any reason, or who cannot complete one — people with MRI-compatible pacemakers would need clearance from a heart specialist before enrolling
  • People rated as "High Risk" under the ACSM physical activity risk classification, unless a doctor has cleared them to participate beforehand (confirm with trial site)
  • People who have had a heart attack, or who have had symptoms of coronary artery (heart) disease, within the last two years
  • People who have, or have previously had, a condition that may affect memory or thinking, such as Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, or a stroke (defined as a clinical episode with matching brain scan evidence)
  • People who have Type 1 (insulin-dependent) Diabetes
  • People who have a serious ongoing illness such as cancer, HIV, or AIDS
  • People who have significant depression that may affect their thinking, or who are taking psychiatric or investigational medications, or who have significant problems with their vision or hearing
  • People who have bone or joint problems that would prevent them from safely getting into a hot tub
  • People who have untreated underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism), or a condition that causes difficulty tolerating heat, such as Graves' disease
  • People for whom swallowing a temperature-monitoring capsule would not be safe, such as those with inflammatory bowel disease or diverticulitis
