Who may be able to join

  • A doctor or prior research has determined that the person is either cognitively normal or has mild cognitive impairment.
  • The person has already had their Alzheimer's-related biomarker status tested — as of July 2023, this must have been done through either an amyloid PET brain scan or a cerebrospinal fluid (spinal fluid) test measuring amyloid and tau levels.
  • Although this is an eye study, people with common, age-related eye or vision issues are welcome, as long as the retina is thought to be healthy — this includes people who wear glasses or contact lenses, use over-the-counter eye drops, have mild cataracts (with no surgery currently planned), have previously had cataract surgery, have had eye muscle surgery (for example, to correct eye misalignment), have had eyelid surgery, or are being monitored by an eye doctor in case a retinal problem develops (sometimes recommended for people with diabetes) but whose retina is currently considered completely healthy.

Who may not be able to join

Each point below is a reason the trial team may not be able to accept someone. It is not a list of requirements to meet.

  • People who are pregnant.
  • People who are prisoners.
  • People who are known to have eye health or vision problems in both eyes that go beyond typical age-related changes — this includes people whose glasses or contact lens prescription has a sphere value greater than seven, people who currently use prescription eye drops (such as those prescribed for glaucoma), people who have had surgical treatment for a retinal problem (such as surgery for a detached retina), or people who have received eye injections for age-related macular degeneration.

This study is not part of the standard drug-approval phase pathway (for example an observational, device, behavioural, or registry study), so a phase success rate does not apply.
