Who may be able to join

AI generated eligibility summary. Written by an AI model from the official source data and checked on a sample basis. It can contain mistakes, so confirm anything important against the original source. How we use AI

Who might be able to join this trial:

  • People who have been diagnosed with chronic (long-term) heart failure and whose condition is currently stable with the best available medical treatment
  • People whose heart is still pumping at least 30% of its normal capacity (a measurement called ejection fraction)
  • People who are able to safely do lower body exercise, which will be checked using a standard six-minute walking test

Who may not be able to join:

  • People whose heart failure is in an active, worsening phase, or who are scheduled for an upcoming medical procedure or intervention
  • People who are already taking part in a cardiac rehabilitation program
  • People whose heart failure symptoms fall into the most severe category (called NYHA Class IV), meaning symptoms occur even at rest
  • People who have another lung or breathing condition at the same time, such as asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), or scarring of the lung tissue
  • People who have a significant heart rhythm problem affecting how electrical signals travel through the heart (called symptomatic second or third degree heart block)
  • People whose heart is showing uncontrolled irregular rhythms in the lower chambers, as seen on a heart tracing (ECG)
  • People whose ability to exercise is limited due to a nerve or bone/joint problem affecting the legs — this will also be checked using the six-minute walking test
