Who might be able to join this trial:
- Adults aged 18 or older
- People who have been diagnosed with heart failure (any type — where the heart pumps weakly, moderately weakly, or with a stiff heart muscle), diagnosed using recognised European heart failure guidelines
- People who are currently experiencing an episode of worsening heart failure, shown by having at least one symptom (such as breathlessness, difficulty breathing when lying flat, or swelling) AND at least one physical sign (such as crackling sounds in the lungs, swelling in the legs, fluid in the abdomen, or signs of fluid in the lungs on a chest X-ray)
- People whose blood test shows an elevated NT-proBNP level above 300 pg/ml (a marker that indicates heart stress)
- People who need diuretics ("water tablets") given through a drip (intravenously)
Who may not be able to join:
- People with very severe kidney failure — specifically those on dialysis or whose kidney function measurement (eGFR) is below 10 mL/min/1.73 m² (confirm with trial site)
- People who are already taking part in another research study related to heart failure
- People who are admitted in a critical condition, such as those experiencing cardiogenic shock (when the heart suddenly cannot pump enough blood), serious breathing failure, or any other condition requiring immediate intensive care unit admission (note: being transferred to intensive care later during the hospital stay does not appear to be an exclusion)
