Who might be able to join this trial:
- Adults aged 18 or older
- People diagnosed with liver cancer (hepatocellular carcinoma) that is located in only one lobe of the liver, confirmed by tissue sample and/or imaging scans
- People who have at least one liver tumour larger than 10 mm that can be measured on a specialised CT or MRI scan
- People whose cancer has grown into a nearby blood vessel (portal vein) only within one lobe of the liver, as seen on a specialised CT or MRI scan
- People with no signs of cancer that has spread outside the liver, based on a chest CT and abdominal CT or MRI scan
- People who have not previously received any treatment for their liver cancer
- People whose liver is functioning at a level known as Child-Pugh class A (confirm with trial site)
- People whose general physical functioning is rated as 0 or 1 on a standard medical scale, meaning they are fully active or have only minor limitations in physical activity
- People whose recent blood tests (taken within one month of joining the study) show that major organs such as the liver, kidneys, and bone marrow are working within acceptable ranges
- People with a life expectancy of more than 3 months
- People who have read, understood, and signed a written consent form for the trial
- Women of childbearing age who have been confirmed as not pregnant
Who may not be able to join:
- People whose pre-treatment scan (using a special substance called 99mTc-MAA) shows that the planned radiation treatment would deliver too high a dose to the lungs or to the healthy part of the liver in the opposite lobe
- People where the volume of healthy, untreated liver tissue makes up less than 30% of their total healthy liver volume
- People whose cancer has spread into the liver's major veins or bile ducts, as seen on a specialised CT or MRI scan
- People who are planned to receive immunotherapy, regardless of how their liver cancer responds to the trial treatment
- People who had another active cancer at any point in the two years before joining the trial
- People who have previously had surgery or procedures involving the bile ducts
- Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding
