Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have been diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) according to established international classification guidelines
- People who also meet recognised criteria for chronic widespread pain (long-lasting pain spread across the body)
- People whose rheumatoid arthritis is currently stable, meaning very little or no joint swelling and low levels of inflammation in the blood
- People with normal vision and hearing, or vision and hearing that has been corrected to normal (for example, with glasses or hearing aids)
- People who are right-handed
- People who currently experience a pain level of at least 4 out of 10 on a standard pain rating scale
Who may not be able to join:
- People who are unable to understand the tasks involved in the study
- People who are unable to provide written consent to participate
- People who are unable to understand English
- People who have a major neurological condition such as Multiple Sclerosis, stroke, traumatic brain injury, Parkinson's Disease, or Alzheimer's Disease
- People with medical or psychiatric conditions that study personnel determine would make participation unsafe or unsuitable (for example, psychosis or thoughts of suicide)
- People whose pain is currently being actively managed by a pain specialist team, including those whose medications or other pain treatments are currently being changed or adjusted
- People who are currently taking part in another interventional research study
