Who may be able to join

  • Women aged 18 to 70 years who have been diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer, confirmed by tissue testing or imaging
  • People whose cancer has been tested and confirmed as HER2-negative (a specific result on two types of laboratory tests)
  • People whose cancer has tested positive for HRD (a marker of DNA repair problems in the tumour, either through a BRCA1/2 gene mutation or a high HRD score)
  • People with HR-positive/HER2-negative metastatic breast cancer who have already received hormone-based therapy during the metastatic stage
  • People who have received no more than two chemotherapy or similar drug regimens for their metastatic breast cancer
  • People whose most recent anti-cancer treatment (6 to 8 cycles) showed clinical benefit — meaning the cancer shrank, disappeared, or stayed stable for at least 24 weeks
  • People with a general physical fitness score of 2 or lower on a standard medical scale, and an expected survival of at least 3 months
  • People with at least one measurable area of cancer visible on imaging within the 2 weeks before joining, or bone-only spread
  • People whose side effects from previous treatments have mostly resolved before joining (with some exceptions such as hair loss)
  • People with adequate bone marrow function, shown by blood counts meeting specific minimum levels
  • People with liver, kidney, and heart function results that fall within acceptable ranges on standard tests
  • People who are able to understand the study process and willing to sign a consent form

Who may not be able to join

Each point below is a reason the trial team may not be able to accept someone. It is not a list of requirements to meet.

  • People with HR-positive/HER2-negative metastatic breast cancer who have never received hormone-based therapy
  • People who have not received any treatment at all for their metastatic breast cancer
  • People who have already received more than two chemotherapy regimens for metastatic breast cancer
  • People with a known allergy to any ingredient in the study drug
  • Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, or women of childbearing potential who are unwilling to use effective contraception during the study
  • People with serious heart conditions that are expected to make chemotherapy unsafe, such as severe irregular heartbeat, unstable chest pain, significant heart valve disease, a recent major heart attack shown on an ECG, or uncontrolled high blood pressure
  • People with other medical conditions, infections, or circumstances that the trial doctor considers unsafe or unsuitable for participation
