Who might be able to join this trial:
- You are 18 years old or older
- You meet the standard requirements for getting a cochlear implant in your country
- You have severe to profound hearing loss in the ear to be implanted, based on specific hearing test results

Who may not be able to join:
- A scan has shown that the inner ear structure in the ear to be implanted is not normal (for example, it has become partially blocked or hardened)
- You have an existing condition affecting the inner ear or middle ear — such as abnormal bone growth, a skin cyst in the ear, or you have had previous middle ear surgery — in the ear to be implanted
- You have a medical condition that could increase the risk of complications during cochlear implant surgery, such as an autoimmune disease or an active infection near the ear
- You have been diagnosed with a condition called auditory neuropathy spectrum disorder, where the nerve carrying sound signals does not work properly
- Your hearing loss is caused by damage to the hearing nerve or hearing pathways in the brain
- Your hearing loss was caused by meningitis
- You only have significant hearing loss in one ear and your other ear has near-normal hearing
- Your hearing loss is uneven between your two ears in a specific way (confirm with trial site for exact thresholds)
- You have previously had a cochlear implant fitted or replaced in either ear
- You have any reason why you cannot have a CT scan (a type of detailed X-ray)
- You are currently taking part in another study related to cochlear implants
