Who might be able to join this trial:
RBD Group:
- People who are patients at the Sleep Disorders Centre at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust and have been diagnosed with REM Sleep Behaviour Disorder (a sleep condition where people act out their dreams).
- People who are 50 years of age or older.
Control Group (people without the sleep condition, for comparison):
- People who have had an overnight sleep study with video recording at the Sleep Disorders Centre at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust, and who have no history or confirmed diagnosis of REM Sleep Behaviour Disorder.
- People who are 50 years of age or older, and whose age and sex match someone in the RBD group.
Who may not be able to join:
RBD Group:
- People under 50 years of age.
- People who have been diagnosed with narcolepsy (a condition causing sudden sleep episodes) or post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
- People who are unable to understand or make decisions about participation, or who are unable to read.
- People who do not speak English.
Control Group:
- People under 50 years of age.
- People whose sleep study showed signs of REM Sleep Behaviour Disorder or a related sleep pattern.
- People with a diagnosed neurological condition, or who have concerns about their memory, thinking, or movement.
- People with a history of other sleep behaviours that could be similar to REM Sleep Behaviour Disorder.
- People who are unable to understand or make decisions about participation, or who are unable to read.
- People who do not speak English.
