Who might be able to join this trial:
- You must be older than 18 years of age.
- You must have been diagnosed with a condition called ATTR cardiomyopathy (a disease where a protein called transthyretin builds up in the heart), whether or not you currently have symptoms.
- Your heart must show signs of involvement on an ultrasound scan (echocardiogram), specifically that the heart wall is thicker than normal (12mm or more).
- You must also meet at least ONE of the following conditions:
- A special bone scan (using a radioactive tracer) showed a strong positive result for protein buildup in the heart.
- A special bone scan showed a mildly positive result, AND a heart tissue sample (biopsy) taken from at least 4 sites confirmed the diagnosis using a special staining method.
- A special bone scan showed a mildly positive result, AND a tissue sample taken from somewhere other than the heart confirmed the diagnosis using a special staining method.
- A heart MRI scan showed certain abnormal patterns, AND a tissue sample (from the heart or elsewhere in the body) confirmed the diagnosis using a special staining method (confirm with trial site for specific MRI findings).
Who may not be able to join:
- You have been diagnosed with a type of amyloidosis caused by a different protein (for example, a type called light chain amyloidosis), not the transthyretin protein.
- You have been diagnosed with a type of amyloidosis that developed as a result of another condition (called secondary amyloidosis).
