Who might be able to join this trial:
- You have been diagnosed with diabetes for more than 1 year

Who may not be able to join:
- You have a stomach or digestive condition other than diabetic gastroparesis (slow stomach emptying due to diabetes) that would need different treatment
- You have had stomach surgery (such as gastric bypass, stomach removal, stomach banding, or related procedures) in the past year
- Your slow stomach emptying appears to be caused by something other than diabetes, such as another illness or nerve condition
- You are currently taking medications that affect how your digestive system moves, such as GLP-1 medications (a type of diabetes or weight-loss drug)
- You have a condition that means a tube cannot safely be placed in your intestine (confirm with trial site)
- You have taken any medication in the last 48 hours that affects the bacteria in your gut
- You have a serious diabetes complication that needs immediate treatment, such as diabetic ketoacidosis
- You have poor lung function that the trial doctor believes could be affected by the study treatment, for example if you have a lung condition that is currently getting worse
- You have certain heart problems, including: a heart function rating of Class III or higher; a heart attack or unstable chest pain within the last 6 months; an abnormal heart rhythm reading on an ECG of a specific type; or a heart electrical conduction problem that requires medication (confirm with trial site)
- You have moderate or severe liver disease (confirm with trial site)
- You have significant kidney disease where your kidneys are working at a reduced level (confirm with trial site)
- You have an active infectious disease such as active hepatitis requiring long-term medication, HIV, or active tuberculosis
- You drink heavily — defined as more than 14 units of alcohol per week (roughly more than 14 standard drinks), or have a history of drug or substance misuse

- The trial doctor decides for any other reason that it would not be appropriate for you to take part
