Who may be able to join

For people with a history of depression:

  • People aged 18 to 27 years old
  • People who have been diagnosed with major depressive disorder at some point in their life
  • People whose depression has been in full remission (no significant symptoms) for at least eight weeks, confirmed by a low score on a standard depression rating scale

For healthy volunteer participants:

  • People aged 18 to 27 years old
  • People who have never been diagnosed with any psychiatric disorder
  • People who do not have a parent, sibling, or child with a mood disorder

Who may not be able to join

  • People who have changed their psychiatric medications in the last 30 days
  • People diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder
  • People currently experiencing an eating disorder
  • People with an intellectual disability
  • People who have had a substance use disorder within the past six months
  • People who are unable to undergo MRI or ECG scans for reasons such as having metal implants in the body, claustrophobia, having a cardiac device, or being pregnant
