Who might be able to join this trial:
- People diagnosed with liver cancer (hepatocellular carcinoma) that has spread to nearby tissues or other parts of the body, or cannot be removed by surgery
- People who have not previously received any systemic (whole-body) drug treatment for their liver cancer. Prior use of herbal or traditional Chinese medicines listed on the product label for anti-cancer use is allowed
- People whose liver cancer is classified at a specific stage (BCLC stage B or C) and is not suitable for surgery or local treatments, or whose cancer has come back or progressed after surgery or local treatments
- People who have at least one tumour that can be measured using standard imaging guidelines
- People with a good general level of physical functioning, able to carry out daily activities with little or no limitation (ECOG score of 0 or 1)
- People whose liver is still functioning reasonably well, within a specific range on a liver health scoring system (Child-Pugh class A5 to B7) (confirm with trial site)
- People whose kidneys, liver, blood, and other organs are working at adequate levels
Who may not be able to join:
- People with certain rare or mixed types of liver cancer, or who have had another active cancer within the past 5 years or currently have another cancer alongside their liver cancer
- People with moderate to severe fluid build-up in the abdomen that is causing noticeable symptoms
- People who have had bleeding in the stomach or intestines within the past 6 months, or who are considered at clear risk of such bleeding
- People who have had a hole in the bowel, an abdominal fistula (an abnormal internal connection), or an abscess (pocket of infection) in the abdomen within the past 6 months
- People with a known tendency to bleed or form blood clots, whether inherited or developed over time
- People who have had a blood clot or related event within the past 6 months
- People with high blood pressure that cannot be adequately controlled with medication, or who have difficulty swallowing or absorbing oral medications (confirm with trial site)
- People with a history of hepatic encephalopathy (a condition where liver disease affects brain function)
- People who have, or have previously had, cancer that has spread to the brain or spinal cord
