Who might be able to join this trial:
- The person must be in a married or live-in relationship with a partner.
- At least one person in the couple must have screened positive for harmful alcohol use in the past 3 months.
- At least one person in the couple must have been on HIV treatment (antiretroviral therapy) for at least 6 months.
- The HIV-positive person in the couple must have already told their partner about their HIV status.
Who may not be able to join:
- Couples where serious physical or emotional abuse between partners has occurred in the past 3 months, or where either person feels their safety could be put at risk by taking part in the study.
- Couples who already took part in an earlier pilot study called the Mlambe pilot study.
