Who might be able to join this trial:
- You have been diagnosed with a type of memory problem consistent with Alzheimer's disease (AD), confirmed by memory testing and either a spinal fluid test or a brain scan showing signs of AD.
- You are between 55 and 80 years old.
- You do not have significant problems with your vision or hearing.
- You are right-handed.
- You are of Han nationality.
- You are willing and able to sign a consent form agreeing to take part.
- You have a reliable family member or caregiver who can provide information about you to the research team.
- Your memory and thinking scores fall within a specific range on standard tests (confirm with trial site for exact scores).
- If you are already taking an approved Alzheimer's medication (such as donepezil or memantine), your dose has been stable for at least 3 months before joining the trial.
Who may not be able to join:
- You have a history of seizures or epilepsy.
- You have had a stroke.
- You have another brain or nervous system condition, such as Parkinson's disease, schizophrenia, severe depression or anxiety, brain tumors, multiple sclerosis, or a history of significant brain injury.
- You have serious problems with your liver, kidneys, lungs, heart, blood (such as anemia), or digestive system.
- You have taken certain sedative or anxiety medications (barbiturates or benzodiazepines) in the past 2 weeks.
- You have metal implants or other reasons you cannot safely have an MRI scan or a brain stimulation procedure.
- You have a condition affecting your thinking that is not Alzheimer's disease, such as an underactive thyroid, vitamin deficiencies, infections, or problems with alcohol or drug use.
- You have significant difficulty speaking, are not fully conscious, or are unable to cooperate with the study tasks.
- You have previously received certain types of brain stimulation treatments (TMS, tDCS, or DBS).
- Your memory problems are caused by something other than Alzheimer's disease.
- A brain scan shows specific types of abnormal changes in your brain unrelated to Alzheimer's disease (confirm with trial site).
- You are not willing to sign the consent form.
