Who might be able to join this trial:

• People who have given written consent to participate
• People who have been diagnosed with early atherosclerosis (fatty buildup in the heart's arteries), defined as men under 55 years old or women under 65 years old with this condition
• People whose heart arteries have been found, through an imaging procedure, to have a blockage of 50% or more, along with reduced blood flow to the heart
• People who are planned to have a procedure to open or bypass a blocked heart artery
• People who have previously had a procedure to open a blocked heart artery or have had bypass surgery on their heart arteries
• People whose heart arteries are suitable for a specific type of imaging scan called a NIRS pullback (confirm with trial site)

Who may not be able to join:

• People who have diabetes
• People whose total cholesterol is 7 mmol/L or higher, and/or whose LDL ("bad") cholesterol is 5 mmol/L or higher
• People who have a genetic condition called familial hypercholesterolaemia (an inherited condition causing very high cholesterol)
• People who have a family history of early heart disease — such as a heart attack, sudden cardiac death, or heart disease in a parent or sibling (men under 55 or women under 65)
• People who have had severely high blood pressure that was difficult or impossible to control for 10 or more years
• People with a body mass index (BMI) of 40 or higher
• People who have smoked 20 or more pack years (roughly equivalent to one pack per day for 20 years, or two packs per day for 10 years)
