Who might be able to join this trial:
- You have liver function that is rated as "A" or "B" on a standard medical scale (called Child-Pugh Class A or B), meaning your liver is still functioning reasonably well.
- You have a suspected liver cancer (either primary liver cancer or cancer that has spread to the liver from elsewhere) that is 4 cm or smaller, confirmed by a scan (CT, ultrasound contrast, or MRI) done within the last 60 days, and your doctors are considering a heat-based treatment (microwave ablation) to treat it.
Who may not be able to join:
- You have three or more cancerous tumors in your liver.
- Your tumor is larger than 4 cm in size.
- Your cancer does not have clear, defined edges and is spread out in a diffuse pattern throughout the liver.
- Your tumor is touching or very close (within 5 mm or less) to major blood vessels or bile ducts in the liver.
- Your liver is severely damaged and rated "C" on the Child-Pugh scale, meaning serious liver failure.
- The cancer has grown into nearby blood vessels.
- Your blood does not clot properly — specifically, if your platelet count is very low or your clotting time is significantly abnormal (confirm with trial site).
- You have cancer that has spread to many areas outside the liver.
- Your case is unlikely to provide usable data for the research (confirm with trial site).
