Who may be able to join
- People who can read and write in English or Spanish.
- People who are between 18 and 20 weeks and 0 days pregnant with a single baby that has no known life-threatening abnormalities, and who have no plan to end the pregnancy, attending a prenatal visit.
- People with any history of depression or anxiety, meaning: a record of depression or anxiety in their medical file within the past 2 years; or a score of 10 or higher on a standard depression screening questionnaire (called the EPDS) taken at their first prenatal visit; or a score of 5 or higher on the anxiety section of that same questionnaire.
Who may not be able to join
Each point below is a reason the trial team may not be able to accept someone. It is not a list of requirements to meet.
- People with a known allergy to steel or rubber.
- People who have an implanted medical device inside their body.
- People who have a condition that means physical activity is not safe for them, such as a pre-existing heart condition or irregular heartbeat.
- People who plan to move away or give birth at a different hospital or clinic.
- People who have a current diagnosis of a severe mental health condition such as bipolar disorder or schizophrenia.
- People whose baby has a known life-threatening condition, or whose pregnancy is not viable.
- People who are already doing more than 30 minutes per week of vigorous physical activity before the trial begins, as measured by a standard pregnancy activity questionnaire (called the PPAQ).
