Who might be able to join this trial:

  • People who have been diagnosed with RBD (a sleep condition where people act out their dreams) either on its own or linked to a brain/nerve disease
  • People aged 18 or older
  • People who can speak, read, and write in English
  • People who live in the United States
  • People who experience nightmares at least 3 times per week
  • People whose nightmare severity scores on a specific questionnaire indicate a nightmare disorder
  • People whose sleep, neurological, and psychiatric medications have been stable for at least 1 month, and who are willing to keep those medications unchanged throughout the study
  • People who live with a family member who is also willing to take part in the study
  • Family members of eligible participants who are aged 18 or older, speak/read/write English, and live in the United States

Who may not be able to join:

  • People who may have dementia
  • People who have narcolepsy (a condition causing sudden sleep attacks)
  • People who have post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
  • People who have previously received a behavioural treatment specifically aimed at nightmares
  • People who are currently in therapy focused on sleep or trauma
  • People who are taking a medication that could be causing their RBD symptoms, if that medication was started before their RBD symptoms began
