Who might be able to join this trial:
For people living with HIV:
- People who are 18 years of age or older
- People who have been diagnosed with HIV
- People who are currently on HIV treatment (antiretroviral therapy) and whose HIV viral load (the amount of virus in the blood) has been below 200 in the past year
For people joining as a comparison/control group:
- People who are 18 years of age or older
- People who have tested negative for HIV
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have another serious condition that significantly weakens the immune system
- People who are under 18 years of age
- People who are pregnant at the time of enrolling in the trial
- People for whom pneumococcal (pneumonia) vaccination is not medically appropriate
- People with severe anaemia, meaning their last haemoglobin blood test result was below 8g/dl
- People who the trial investigator believes may have difficulty following the trial's schedules or procedures
- People who are not able to give their own informed consent to participate
- People who are in prison or detained at the time of enrolling in the trial
