Who might be able to join this trial:
- Men between 18 and 55 years old, or women between 18 and 65 years old.
- People diagnosed with coronary artery disease (blockages in the heart's arteries), where imaging has confirmed narrowing in 2 or more arteries, with at least one artery having a 50–70% blockage.
- People with LDL ("bad") cholesterol above 3.4 mmol/L who are not on regular cholesterol-lowering medication, OR people with LDL cholesterol above 1.8 mmol/L after 4 weeks of taking statin (cholesterol-lowering) medication.
Who may not be able to join:
- People with known allergies or medical reasons they cannot take PCSK9 inhibitor medications and/or statin medications.
- People who have previously used PCSK9 inhibitor medications.
- People who have previously had a bleeding stroke (a stroke caused by bleeding in the brain).
- People who have previously had heart bypass surgery or any procedure to open blocked heart arteries.
- People for whom a specific type of heart artery imaging (called OCT) cannot be performed, or where the imaging results are not clear enough to use.
- People with severely reduced kidney function (confirm with trial site for specific test values).
- People with severe liver problems.
- People with very high triglyceride (a type of fat in the blood) levels above 5.6 mmol/L at the start of the trial.
- Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding.
- People whose life expectancy is estimated at one year or less.
- People the trial investigators consider unsuitable for the study for any reason.
